I have realised that I have not acted as much as I should have in this module. I managed to gain a small placement but have found it difficult to go back due to lack of studio space.
I should have emailed more studios and got my work out there much more, but I personally felt that my work was not at a good enough point and I wasn't fully happy with the standard it was at.
I intend on developing my online presence and finding out what type of designer I am, to produce stronger work that I will then be happy to send to potential employers.

Business cards..
I needs an identity, I have been thinking about it for ages.. and been trying things out, and each time I go back, I'm unhappy about it.. I'm looking at a simple logo, using my initials, NJ.. something that could be stamped, or put on my portfolio/website etc.. that instantly says, Nat Jackson..
Looking at using an 'N' and slicing through the middle which makes a 'J' at the end..
Still not completely right.. look at the letter as a shape..
I like this way.. maybe a bit too plain..
Some colours.. and within a shape.. need to look at different shapes.. and this will be seen throughout the stationary, to keep them all together..
Simple circle works best for me.. not keen on the zig zag effect.. see how I can make this work as a business card..
Really just realised its like the cartoon network 'N' .. NOT COOL!!
Found a similar typeface.. 'geddes'.. where the corners don't extend, but are still 'pointy'..
Looking at how the card would be interactive, turning upside down to read last name.. maybe experiment with typeface more, and how the layout on the card would make sure the person reads the first name first..
Change of plan.. whilst doing some doodles..
Idea is that the shapes represent the letter in NAT.. quite abstract, which I like, and I think will look quite nice as a logo.. this can be used as a pattern for the back of the business card, and maybe in different colours..

Punch Creative:
Catch up on what I have been doing at the placement..
They gave me the task of designing a business card for a furniture company.
They wanted 3 colours (yellow, black and silver) and wanted a logo, preferably made up of the letters in the name..
I managed to do quite a few variations, and I think they liked a few of them.. however I don't think I am going back until after the deadline, as they are really busy with xmas, and I need to be in uni for the run up to submission.. so I won't find out whats happening until then..

My Placement..
I am currently going to Punch Creative once a week when possible to get some experience in the industry..
I have only managed to visit them twice so far.. but it has given me a slight insight into the studio and the people who work there..
It is a very small studio, but then again there are only a few designers, which I quite like.. everyone is really friendly and enthusiastic about graphic design..
They are currently doing a project that involves filming and a photoshoot, so I was researching into the type of models and clothes, and the overall feel of what the video would look like.. something to show the client to give them a good idea..
They have kindly asked me if I would like to come along to the shoot when it happens, so I'm hoping I have some spare time to go and have a look, and probably be a 'run around'..
I am hopefully going to be able to sit in on a few meetings, to see how the clients work with the designer..
I am really excited about this placement.. though there has not been a time set for how long I'll be there, but Richard has said that they are happy to help me out with my portfolio, and get me working on different things..
I need to remember to keep writing and get some photos of the studio on here!! Until next time..
